• Things to Do In Vancouver
Vancouver is also seeing a resurgence of interest in soccer, notably with the resurrected Vancouver Whitecaps. The team was champion of the North America Soccer League in 1979 during the height of 'soccernania' in Canada and the United States, winning the Soccer Bowl in New York City that year.

  • Golfing Mecca
With a backdrop of Mount Arrowsmith, well-manicured greens and fairways, an executive-length golf course awaits you: Mount Arrowsmith Golf Course is one of the Island's best-kept secrets.

  • The best City
Vancouver Zoo is located in Aldergrove just off the Trans Canada Highway. They are open all year round and offer either daily admission rates or season passes. There is a miniature safari train and a safari bus tour, you can also hire quadra cycles or bring your own bikes, in-line skates or any motor-less transportation to get you around.

  • Vancouver Island
Not to be missed on the highway in to Port Alberni (there's only one!) is a pull-off with a sign saying "Cathedral Grove". This is a protected area of old growth forest featuring trees of enormous girth and height. They are truly awe-inspiring as one walks along the trails through the grove.

  • Grouse Mountain
In the four years of its operation, the Refuge has hosted millions of visitors who have learned about the challenges faced by the bears (through ranger talks and on-site signage). In addition, over 30,000 local school children have participated in our Adventures in Education programs

  • Hello from Vancouver
Another very energetic Servas member from San Francisco volunteers her time to help the local homeless community and to participate in a variety of peace-building initiatives. I also talked to a nice couple from New Jersey, both teachers, who spread the message of peace to an audience of young people and they are also involved in the Sierra Club, to help save our environment.

  • International Real Estate Investors
Which, besides creating a gargantuan traffic jam, will push prices of condos in Downtown from the present CAD $500 per square foot to about $1,000 per square foot, thus catapulting Vancouver, BC from the present fifteenth most expensive place in the world to live in, to the seventh. And, considering that in Downtown we have just run out of space entirely … I believe it!

  • Vancouver Down
Camped at a place called Berryessa Lake, down another wierd undisturbed road where nobody else was, and at the camp ground, there was us, and another tent - that's it! We had a lovely night, sipping great wine by the fire at the edge of the lake, with nobody else around! Nutty!

  • Beautiful Vancouver
Back in downtown Vancouver, the Gastown district is one of the top tourist areas for boutique shopping and souvenirs. Don’t miss the steam clock that rings on the hour. Vancouver has one of the largest Asian communities in North America so the Chinatown nearby as expected has some of the best dim sum luncheons outside of Hong Kong.
